Poulshot has the remarkable privilege of having the largest registered Village Green in the county. At the heart of the village, surrounded by cottages and larger homes, this expanse of open grassland with trees and ponds teeming with wildlife is a tranquil haven, interrupted only by the roadway passing its full length.

 

Some interesting facts...

 

In 1956, the 1896/7 Byelaws were upheld as remaining legitimate, and that the Parish Council had the right to enforce them. These said that The Green was to be used for:

 

  • The recreation of the parishioners;
  • The grazing of cattle, horses and poultry;
  • Horses may not be tethered to graze!
